An Impressive Art Nouveau Luneville Vase The lily design vase glazed ceramic vase has a white petal upper rim and stem-like handle wrapping around the body and terminating in a large leaf. The body of this vase is accented with gilt outlined and hand-painted white blossoms and green leaves. Measures apprx 19" H x 13"W. Marked on verso "Luneville T.170". Verso also has a fragment of a sticker with partial wording in French. This was featured on the Luneville catalogue.

Paul Ninas (American/New Orleans, 1903-1964) "Lilly Valley, Dominika, West Indies", 1929, oil on canvas, 28-3/4" x 36", titled, signed and dated on canvas verso. Framed. Provenance: Private collection, Pennsylvania. Paul Ninas is one of New Orleans' best-known painters, graphic artists and decorators of the second quarter of the twentieth century. He completed formal studies at the Royal Academy in Vienna, the Beaux Arts Academy and in the atelier of Andre L'Hote. His experiences in Paris exposed him to the emerging modernist movement. This lush landscape was painted during Ninas' time in the West Indies. He spent several years there painting the native women and tropical landscapes, experiences that were similar to Paul Gaugin.
